I was just reading about the Green Berets, and how, contrary to the myth of the Beret's being hulking supermen, members of the Green Berets are likely to be much smaller than the average man, both short and wirey, with a much higher than average intellegence and a strong gift for languages. Apparently the small size is a distinct advantage in surviving in extreme conditions (and after all, a guy 5'4" can shoot a gun just as well as someone a foot taller - I think size advantage went out with the sword).
So the Oompa-Loompas might be a good fit, once you get them out of the factory and they drop a few pounds.
