As for hoops, we could have won either of two ways: 1: Get a better set of NBA style players to go. If Shaq, Kobe, and others go we probably do win. This was mostly second string. 2: Take NBA players who would fit the international mold, even if they're not the top NBA players, and send them. THat's what every other country does. We could win that way too.

When was the last time Brazil sucked at a World Cup? Last time around they beat Germany in the final. Replacing them with England and Argentina makes your point.
