You make it sound so innocuous. The outer was merely trying to point out that someone was gay, huh? I see it more as blackmail, and so do many others, and so do you, I suspect. You can't blackmail someone for something they are proud of. So, the message is, this is so bad, it was worth resigning over.
The message everyone is left with is, he was so guilt-ridden and shamed that everyone found out he was gay that he had to quit.
Great message. I think it hurts much more than it helps.
Am I speaking of how people like you and I see the message? Obviously not. But, if most people held our views, there would likely already be gay marriages. The minds that must be changed are the ones most likely to perceive this negative message.
