Wha? IRL? I don't hang out with a particularly PC crowd, especially here at work, but I'm having a hard time imagining "girly men" being used in the presence of gay men or women, even as a self-deprecating joke.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not
offended by it. I just think it's a lame joke. Maybe that's because I'm not effeminate (except for my command of wedding etiquette) and wasn't subjected to schoolyard taunts about being girly. It concerns me that it gets cheers from adults. It's the crowd's response that concerns me. It's also a sign that even the moderates in the GOP do not extend olive branches to gays and lesbians --- instead, they get this at the convention.
