If you take this advice without additional confirmation, you are a moron. Many women "don't like diamond rings" because they think that diamond rings are properly reserved for engagement rings.
This is a thought to be encouraged, frankly, although I've discovered that married women seem to lose this particular reservation after the ceremony.
