Has the administration made mistakes? Yes. Could they have acheived more? Maybe. But that doesn't change the positive nature of the developments.

I'm not blaming America, I'm blaming the administration for making policy decisions that make it unlikely, in my view, that Afghanistan will ever make that transition to a democracy. Holding an election does not a democracy make. We had the chance to devote more resources there, and we didn't, and as a result we don't have much influence outside Kabul. How long do you think Karzai would last if we stopped backing him?
