Not likely to happen since my mom never travels out of the country, but still quite odd. The other one involved me having to climb out on a really unstable cliff/ledge to hit my golf ball that was perched up there. Once I got up there I realized that a golf game was really not worth dying over, so I starting trying to climb back down and was mid-descent when I woke up.

I'll have to think about the first one if I have time. But as for the second one ... have you reached any big understandings or got new insight into something big or made a big decision lately (or is one hanging over your head)? Usually climbing up a cliff or reaching the top of a cliff and gaining a new insight means that you have had gained heightened awareness or understanding in your own life (whether good or bad), or you are about to. The fact it was golf that got you there in the dream is pretty irrelevant - it was just a vehicle.
The insight that you experienced in your dream (i.e. that golf is not worth risking your life), is probably similar to that which you have or will experience - e.g. you understand that something may not be worth what you initially think it is - or something like that.
The fact that you woke up while climbing down probably means that you are still trying to digest this understanding - if you are on the brink of this understanding - you will take a while to digest it. Expect to have more climbing/trekking/heights dreams in the future for a while. It looks as if it is something big you are thinking about.
