What version of Word?

If it is a horizontal line running across every page, it sounds like you created a border.

If you have Word 2000, to remove a border:

On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading, and then click the Page Border tab.

Under Setting, click None.

If you have Word 2003, then click on help and type in border. Then try to find help on removing a border.
