Greeting colleagues from other offices

Is it fine? Do I make this the standard hello for the women (and the men?) Granted I work with this particular office frequently, and see them at meetings generally 3 - 4 times a year.

It's really starting to bug me and I don't want to have that awkward moment.
Letterman did a "Dave Letterman Awkward Celebrity Hug" making fun of celebs that do this.

For some folks hugging is just like shaking hands.

If you find it awkward, just say "Forgive me if I don't shake your hand."
