I fixed it. Basically, back around the time you were busy with babysitting your first grandchild, the Pope was pushing Democracy in eastern Europe, particularly in Poland. Along with Walesa and Thatcher (moreso than Reagan, but he was up there too).
The comparison to today would be if any Muslim leader tried doing the same (Sistani seems like he's on the verge of making this leap), but it hasn't happened. Instead, Bush is pushing it for them.
Anyway, that's the Pope's greatest legacy.
