I had lost all interest in the state of Kentucky. I was convinced it was a state of liars, having driven across the entire state (on the Blue Grass Highway, no less!) without seeing a single blade of blue grass. However, the current Senate election, featuring Republican incumbent and baseball Hall of Famer Jim Bunning against Democratic challenger Daniel Mongiardo, is turning into a doozie.
Bunning had been leading Mongiardo comfortably in the polls, until his increasingly bizarre behavior started scaring off potential voters. Just this morning, Bunning apologized to Mongiardo for saying that he looked like Saddam Hussein's sons.
