Normally, Southwest is fine - as long as you have an "A" ticket. B or a C and you're screwed as far as carry-on or seat selection. Today, I had an "A" but security screwed me on the seat and carry-on.
In some circumstances preboarding is essential. But when a mom and her 12 year old kid want to preboard - fuck that. And when 8 other people want to do that too, fuck that too.
I don't know where America West gets their seats, but they do hire their counter people from Adolf Hitler's school of regimen and manners.
