When I talked to him today, he said that he just looked at the people walking down the street, wondering why they all hate him. He's a smart, educated, productive member of society. He pays his taxes, gives back to the community, spends a lot of his time working with not-for-profits. He can get along with anyone, and they hate him because they're afraid of him.
I can guarantee that he's much more afraid of what they might do to him than they are of what he could do to them.
And the thing that pisses me off about it is that their fears were being played to in an effort to get out the vote. 95 percent of the population could give a fuck whether my brother gets to see his boyfriend in the hospital, or inherit money from him, or participate in the same health plan. But the issue was drawn to their attention by this election, and when they thought about it, they got scared over some stupid concept of the "sanctity" of marriage.
You should have seen some of the ads the Poe campaign was running. It makes me sick.
