Light Fixtures

I'm seeing a few posts on here about light fixtures and other things. A friend came to town and commented on how awful they were in my place. I guess b/c I rent I felt I wasn't allowed to touch anything (maybe I'm not). A simple thing like replacing the hideous fake bamboo light switch and electrical outlets, to clean white ones did wonders. As did simply unscrewing the cabinet knobs which were faded flowers and replacing them with new ones which are a modern brushed brass. All Home Dept stuff. Or there are a billion knob places on the Internet (heh heh she said knob). And it was all real cheap. The only thing I did invest in (with landlord approval and a minor contribution) was have my electrician friend install two round "high hats" in the kitchen area (which I kept calling "high boys" which I guess means I'm a sublimal drunk). I kept trying to buy a new "flush to the wall" fixture from Home Dept and was returning them when they were so hideous and the High Hat gives a soft light and is the least obnoxious of all. I heart my kitchen now.
