Based on personal experience, I have to disagree. I can tattoo myself to the celing and be productive (in fact, I sleep like a baby so I'm super well rested) the next day. get me drunk and I'm useless the next day.

You don't need much good pot to get high, so you'll never smoke enough to do serious lung damage. And there's no empty calories. On the negative side, you don't get the lower risk of heart disease you get from booze in moderation. I fix this by doing both at once.
