I never read the book. But in the movie, Mrs. Garp bites off the dick of the student she's been fucking in his car in the driveway because Mr. Garp, liked to coast into the driveway with the engine and lights off. She never gave the student a blowjob, told him it was over and he wouldn't leave until she gave him one, so she did. The student loses his dick and the Garps lose a son.
