I was thinking more of the reputation inside the league. The LA Times has been highlighting stuff about him being a good teammate, how he was the only Laker to publicly stand up for Kobe last year during his trial, etc.
Maybe that's all bullshit too, but the local media has placed Malone inside a nice warm halo these days.
