It's not an infallible resource, but when you're looking for info on music you're not really familiar with, the
All Music Guide is a good place to look. Hardcore fans will always find ways to nitpick the ratings of albums in the "Discography" section, but as a general rule, if you pick out the highest-rated album for a given artist, you're going to at least be in the ballpark of getting their best stuff.
