I think it's fun if the other person is really into it. But I'm a big control freak. YMMV.
ETA It's more mentally stimulating than masturbating is, but not as fun as actual sex with someone you like having sex with. I've only done it with someone with whom I've had actual good sex with, and it always sort of starts out as a walk down memory lane.* Hearing that he remembers VERY well what all we did, and liked it a lot, works for me and I'm sure the converse is true.
