In addition to the bad Santa oven mitts, red and gold flecked placemats and other holiday cheer, there was a collection of festive tree skirts on hangers. Some were clearly labeled "Tree Skirt".
I had a wonderful morning chuckle when I saw a woman trying one on as a poncho. She was modeling and conversing with her friend, wondering if it would be OK to wear said 'poncho' to Biff and June's party next Friday. If only I had a camera phone.

While wandering through the galleria a couple of evenings ago, I was pondering the notion that the various stores sell their image as much as (if not more than) their merchandise. Hot Topics sells the image of the LA goth metal scene to suburban teens, PacSun sells the image of the SoCal surf set, America Eagle Outfitters sells the image of freshly scrubbed outdoorsy white youths from the Pacific Northwest, and so on up to the higher end places like Fendi and YSL. Why is there a Dress Barn?
