The two most vile songs of the last decade were Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland" and that horrendous piece of shit from Dawson's Creek that goes something like "I Don't Want to Wait For Our lives to Be Over." As to Mayer's crime against humanity, he's just rubbing our noses in it. The man is pretty cagey and has a dark side - he's not the weepy tool he'd have you believe in the lyrics to that song. Its clear he stole the lyrics from the diary of some 15 year old girl and copied her Hallmarky pap remembrance of the glop her boyfriend poured on her in order to steal her virginity. As to that "I Don't Want to Wait" song, the lyrics aren't really what makes it ear poison - its the fucking godawful wail of the singer. There's enough melodrama in the delivery to fill a year of soap operas.
Both songs move me in the same way coffee "moves" me in the morning. Who in the hell is the audience for this crap?
