HELP--What in the hell do I do with her?

OK--probably none of you will even answer, or will just flame me, but hey, I'm looking for ideas and figured y'all might have something creative.

So, one of my best friends calls me a few weeks ago and confesses that her marriage is falling apart, her husband is purchasing firearms while getting angry, loud and arriving home late and drunk after work....she's considering leaving and can she come stay at my house...well, there's no room for me and her and her baby at my house, so I say OK, and evacuate the house and take up residence at my boyfriend's house and mother's farm, which I'm at all the time anyway...she kind of wanted space to be by herself and figure things out....so I gave her space. So she was there all last week and then this past friday she tells me she's "going home" for the weekend so her husband can see the baby. I'm kinda thinking "either it's safe there or it's not...either you need to get out of the house or you don't, but I ain't running a B & B here. I'm happy to move out of my house on which I pay the mortgage, pay the doubled electric bill because she's heated it up like a sauna and several hours worth of long distance calls to all her family and her husband"--so i stop by this weekend to drop off some stuff I bought for the house and she'd left for the weekend while leaving a baby sippy cup on my 100 year old Tibetan coffee table (lovely water ring) and dried juice spill all over my antique kitchen table. Sink full of dishes. I don't want to completely alienate this friend, but how do I say "if you're safe to go home on the weekends, you're safe to be there during the week...I'm happy for you to stay in my house if you need to get out of your house because you don't feel safe, but I feel a bit put off coming home and finding my house a disaster, it costing me money that you're here, and that my house is being used like a hotel."

I'm such an idiot for trying to help out in the first place. I never should have given up my house.

So he's proactive, huh?

Oh, God, yes. We're talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.

MEYER
Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.
