I've never been sure exactly what the term "whiff" means. But suppose someone posts a question that is intended to be humorous. Further suppose that this poster is not really seeking a serious answer. Then, assume you treat the question seriously. In fact, assume you even provide an answer. Would that not be a whiff? If it is not one in the original sense, then at least in the colloquial sense?
