I love that place. They totally downplay the fact that McDonald's owns a piece of it, but then again, it's run totally different than McDonald's, i.e. free-range, organic carnitas, everything fresh as can be. Yes, I know that Los Angeles has a billion family-owned Mexican restaurants, but few of them are on the west side, and Tito's Tacos seems incredibly unhealthy.
Oh, and to bring the thread full circle, the Chipotle in Marina del Rey is filled with Loyola Marymount students who use some sort of dining card to pay for their burritos. Paigow will be happy to know I don't "prey" on any of them. Why get "preyed upon" by a 32 year old lawyer when you can date the Delta house social chair?
There's a sort of new wave cafeteria chain in San Francisco called Pluto's. They make sandwiches and salads to order and have roast turkey every day. Back in law school I wished that they had a branch inside Hastings. They always seem packed, but they're not as massive as the plans envisioned by people on the board. Square footage is too expensive (at least in SF), and if you're going to serve that many people, the quality of ingredients will decrease.
