com·ple·men·ta·ry ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kmpl-mnt-r, -tr)
adj.
Forming or serving as a complement; completing.
Supplying mutual needs or offsetting mutual lacks.
Genetics. Of or relating to a group of genes that act in concert to produce a specific phenotype.
Biochemistry. Of or relating to the specific pairing of the purines and pyrimidines between strands of a DNA or an RNA molecule.

Lets go with the second definition bc I dont think complementary really means completing and I dont feel like lookig up complement. So you though the line was serving a mutual need? As in providing some levity to an otherwise teedious post?

OK, lets look at schtick:

shtick also schtick or shtik ( P ) Pronunciation Key (shtk)
n. Slang
A characteristic attribute, talent, or trait that is helpful in securing recognition or attention: waiters in tropical attire are part of the restaurant's shtick.
An entertainment routine or gimmick.

Ok, so the Yale thing was to lighten up the droll post and it was part of LFM's regular shtick of lightening up droll posts with one-liners? Or the Yale thing was used as a funny to gain recognintion?? Or the Yale thing is so associated with you itsl ike a tropical outfit at a restaurant? But thats your schtick and not LFM's so it doesnt work.

Is it like if I post like this and then say skoething like, "OK I wanta burrito for dinner?"

I would like to use this term correclty in the future but I am not Yale caliber intelligent so please help
Would you have been happier with "supplementary shtick?" I would have gone with that, but I was hoping to bait someone into saying that LFM's reference to Yale wasn't meant to be a compliment.
