The Snow Crash version was much more entertaining, but basically the same concept. The dentata was designed to deal with rape -- not exactly to prevent it, but to stop it in its tracks. Pretty violently, if I remember the book.
Unfortunately, the dentata couldn't distinguish between penises, and if the wearer forgot to remove (or disable -- it's been awhile since I read it) it in the heat of passion, well....
So, the Snow Crash version had all the fun of Freud, without the sexism or angst.
