Words have gender, people have sex. But not the people on this board, I'll wager.

Gender does not, however, have multiple meanings, so by using it inappropriately you create confusion. Most people, having a sense of context, are not unduly confused when words have different meanings in different contexts.

Methinks your real objection is to the slight frission of naughtiness attendent upon the use of the term "sex" in otherwise non-salacious contexts. In which case, my only response is: "killjoy!"
