Whether or not that is the case, you may not be aware, but Clinton had been having some "legal" "problems" related to inappropriate sexual conduct with subordinates and apparently was being sued in response to those "problems" and his behavior apparently was relevant to those lawsuits, which is kind of a "PR" "disaster" when you are trying to convince people that really, you aren't an unethical sexual harrasser, and the improper relationship with Paula Jones (and Juanita Broderick et al) was just a bunch of lies.

That said, I could give a shit that he had an affair, but it was stupid of him to lie under oath when his profession's ethical code and the law makes this verboten, or to continue to engage in the behavior which had resulted in the then on-going legal proceedings.
