I know that the communist party in Italy supported the deployment of the pershing missle (or whatever the medium range missles were called) in the 80s by the US. I wouldn't be surprized if they supported US in the war. When I lived in Italy, Ciccolina, an Italian porn star, was elected to parliament. So was Mussolini's granddaughter and she used his pictures in her campaigns.
