Fascinating book. Who knew that Ben Stiller was a big enough prick to back out of hosting the second live show when they went back on the air after 9/11? Reese Witherspoon can do it, but you can't, Ben? Jerk.

Norm came back to host SNL the season after he was fired. In his opening monologue, he said he was fired because NBC didn't think he was funny. Then NBC asked him to host, which either meant he had gotten a lot funnier in just a few months, or "this show really blows." He then said that he didn't think he had gotten much funnier in a few months, so . . .
