It's just so fucking expensive. It's cheaper for me to go out on Lake Michigan, troll for king salmon all day and land a 15-pounder then it is to buy it at Whole Foods.

I gauge it by the quality of the lox. A good food store has good quality and assortmeent of lox (and all fish for that matter). Whole Foods has a great assortment of wild and farm raised lox. And the pre-cooked foods (which is what I have for dinner almost every night) is much better than anything else available. I'm the sort of person who wants a little bit of everything on the menu. WF is the only place where I can do that right at the deli counter.
Poor lox selection is a deal killer for me. What drives me nuts here in Philly is that there's not a good NY quality Jewish deli in the whole fucking city. The Jews in this town have really let this slide. Deplorable.
I don't care about $ when it comes to good food. You eat bad shit, you'll feel like shit.
