Meant as a reference to reputation rather than a slam on the whole state -- Texans do have a group schtick.
But let me say I find the areas in Texas that vote D are, on the whole, among the nicest and friendliest places on earth; I've always found time spent in Austin, or El Paso, or San Antonio worthwhile and fun.
On the other hand, the parts of Texas that vote R are, in my experience, among the vilest of all cities and to be avoided at any cost.
