My second thought this morning, upon hearing Frist's comments, was that we may need to officially change the venue for the Odds-Man nuptuals to Canada.
My first thought was a profound sense of shame at the idiots elected to "lead" our country. A constitutional amendment?!

I have always thought that extending marriage to cover same-sex marriages was at its heart a conservative policy. Generally speaking, to embrace marriage and all its attendant encumbrances (fidelity, perhaps children, responsibility for another person etc) is to embrace a traditional, conservative way of life. You would think that because marriage and family is the alleged cornerstone of American society that conservatives would think the more people that buy into it, the better. Seems philosophically inconsistent to deny it to someone. People are staying away from marriage in droves - if someone actually wants to get married those people who are fans of marriage should be happy.
