In other news...

I have a friend with PCOS. She suspected she had it several years ago, and asked her doctor about it. He ordered the test, she got back negative results from the lab, so she started looking into other possibilities. A couple of years later, having found no other explanation that covered all her symptoms, she checked back and found that the doctor had mistakenly ordered a PSA test. Of course it came back negative--she doesn't have a prostate, let alone prostate cancer! So they ran the right test, she got the diagnosis she had suspected all along, got on the right meds, and now she's lost tons of weight and makes many fewer visits to the aesthetician.

Moral of the story: nothing wrong with checking the lab order form before they run the wrong test.
