That's exactly the kind of advice that leads to a lot of unhappy but highly credentialed lawyers. Someone who applies to law school "to see what happens" and gets into an impressive school will likely feel a lot less ambivalent about the law after getting that acceptance letter than she was before. The prestige of the school will just add momentum to the whole process and unless she really digs the lawyer gig, the prestige driven pressure will only get worse.

Not that I feel that way, I'm just saying.
