A former TX SC Justice told me about one of her former colleagues, who had served in the legislature prior to being elected to the SC. The case turned on legislative intent, and in his dissent, the Justice said something to the effect of "I know that's not the intent of the legislature, because I voted for it and that's not what I intended."
