From what I understand about the science involved, the effects of the Bush Administration's wetlands policies contributed in some degree to New Orleans' problems. Since I gather that you agree on the science, I take it that your objection to people pointing this out is that we ought not be trying to score partisan points during a national emergency. On one hand, I agree, and was trying to say something like that yesterday. On the other hand, the Bush Administration has gotten such a free ride from the press for years now that it's nice to see, e.g., journalists actually pointing out that the president was dead wrong when he said that no one thought the levees would break. And this admininistration has hardly been adverse to exploiting 9/11 and the war in Iraq to score partisan points.
