And in any case, it's not like it excuses or mitigates the federal government's massive fuck-ups, too. Here's part of the Department of Homeland Security's mission statement: "Lead, manage and coordinate the national response to acts of terrorism, natural disasters, or other emergencies."
DHS also says,
- In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will assume primary responsibility on March 1st for ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared for any situation. This will entail providing a coordinated, comprehensive federal response to any large-scale crisis and mounting a swift and effective recovery effort.
Well, maybe next time.

Again, no benefit of the doubt for Bush but qualified criticism of the Democrat.
Isn't Nagin spinning like a top? The man who failed to call out the buses that could have saved/evacuated thousands profanely criticises Bush, but you can only say "its possible" he fucked up. Ask yourself if Bush had said, pre-levee breaking, publicly, "Its time for Mayor to get off his ass goddammit and get the fucking buses rolling". You and you're liberal blogsters would be howling.
Can you honestly not see how biased and prejudiced you are?
