Coltrane's response is better, but I'll try to provide a serious answer to this small, lucid part of your post. Because:
* We've known less about Nagin's and Blanco's involvement in the planning stages, though we're learning more -- and even from sources that don't publish photoshopped images. That's why, as I've said before, I'm perfectly happy to blame Nagin and Blanco when their involvement/noninvolvement/malfeasance gets sorted out -- or even have them shot, if that's what your conservative druthers dictate.
* It's difficult to know much about their recovery efforts, because the local and state infrastructure was kinda destroyed into teeny little bits.
* I understand you've been, you know, arguing for their responsibility in this fiasco, but frankly I'm trying to stop reading your posts when I reach the omigodtherewerebuseswhydidn'thedriveallofthefuckingBUSESS!!!???!!!! part.
Meanwhile, we were treated to images of Brown and Chertoff as of Thursday proclaiming that FEMA and DHS were in charge, yessiree, security inside the city was peachy-keen, and chastising reporters for suggesting that the 10 or 20 evacuees in the Superdome or Convention Center were even one breath mint short of fully fed, and see our Secretary of State in Biloxii on Friday making a nonpolitical, nosiree, visit to Mississippistan to interact with the foreign locals.
Now this degree of departure from reality may synch well with your worldview, and of the GOP's embrace of small government, but to some of the rest of us, it suggests that the feds might just be fucking something up pretty badly,
even with a good helping of local screwups as well.
