It goes beyond association. He is the conscience of the party. The conscience is a racist. What does that say about what the party thinks of itself and its message?
Why is so hard to call racism racism? Or a murderer a murderer? Or a perjurer a perjurer? Or a rapist a rapist? Or to acknowledge that committing those acts or indulging in those behaviours is wrong?
