Former New Yorkers are unsufferably theatrical about what they have voluntarily given up by leaving Manhattan. A friend complained to me that the problem with Burlingame was you couldn't get a good steak at 2 a.m. No shit? The lack of all-night steakhouses might escape the notice of the planning commission for a while.
