Yeah, the Heisman has never been, nor has it ever pretended to be, an award for the college football player with the most potential to excel in the League. It's intended to recognize the outstanding Division 1-A(??) collegiate football player.
Nobody ever pretended that Eric Crouch would be a legit pro, at any time during his college career. Certainly not at QB, anyhow. But he still got enough votes to win the Heisman. Same goes for Detmer and many many others.
Charles Woodson was a great choice for Heisman and might wind up in the NFL Hall of Fame, so lay off of Woodson.
