Plus I had lots of cheats so even if I ever got in trouble I could cheat me some gold, or these nasty machine gun carrying race cars that could kill dozen of the sword/spear carrying infantry sent against me. It was a fun game.

Then I played online- no cheats and no control of skill level. There was something profoundly sad in watching my towns razed and peoples wiped out, and with nothing I could do about it.
When the same point was made with tic-tac-toe, it somehow seemed poignant. This, on the other hand, makes you look like a dumb.
