When however comes first, it means in whatever way or to whatever extent.
  • However you advise him, he will probably do as he thinks best.
    However discouraging the prospect, he never lost heart.

I just think a reader might be more inclined to believe you are aware of ownership of multi-national petroleum companies if you evidence a basic understanding of traditional rules of grammar.
