In a different way. The endings generally are sweet, with the guys sitting around, hopeful and praising the guy they made over in whatever he is doing.
The engagement show was downright touching.
Carson especially is very catty, a lot towards the women I notice, but in the end, they genuinely seem to want to help the men. Other shows where they do this sort of makeover tend to be pretty nasty. And I think the reason this one is successful is because aside from the occasional cattyness it is pretty gentle, and they aren't really trying to change the guy. Just improve him a bit.
