Coincidentally, follow that link and you'll see that Bailey Quarters expressed an interest in the camera.
I have a less fancy Nikon (Coolpix 4600) and was recently with a friend when she bought a new digital camera. She went in there, intent on buying an equivalent Canon. I was staying neutral but the sales-dude started lobbying for the Nikon instead. The benefits he stated include the fact that Nikon is one of the few companies that uses non-proprietary memory cards. Some also require proprietary batteries, apparently. The sales-dude also said that Nikon is the only maker that also produces their own lenses. Obviously, that has been part of Nikon's strength in the past. I also found the Canon my friend wanted to buy to be much less intuitive and fussier than the Nikon. Trash required navigating a few levels of software, whereas the Nikon has a Trash button.

The worst thing about my Nikon digital is what RP (I think) stated in the last round of this discussion. The delay between the depression of the shutter and the actual shot can be frustrating, particularly when trying to photograph something transient or moving, like a small child. The lense on my camera is also somewhat limited but my expectations weren't that high on a snapshot camera.
