Probably no one at the RNC noticed it until some blogger pointed it out. If they had really wanted to make Dean look like Hitler then they would have just made the moustache clear and unmistakable.
Once it was pointed out they changed it naively thinking the bloggers would drop it and move on.
If by chance they did intentionaly put in a subtle shadow to submliminally suggest that Dean is like Hitler, then they are a lot smarter than I give them credit for. However, if they had done that I think they would have just claimed that it was the original picture untouched so they could leave the picture up there to do what they wanted it to do.
But since that wasn't their intention they took it down.
If I was in charge at the RNC the picture would never had been changed and left as it was. Once it went up the blood was in the water, so why change it? Changing it is not going to accomplish anything. Just leave it and let the bloggers suck on it.
