Apropos of which, I recommend a novel by Monica Ali,
Brick Lane. There's been a stink in London over the filming of a movie made from the book -- a number of immigrants object to the depiction of them in the movie and threatened violence against the filming. I have half a blog post about the dispute, and someday will get around to finishing it.
