This seems to be a trend. A lot of writers these days posture their observations as ruminations on the effect of market forces. This allows the reader to avoid the consideration of the real issue, which is that people do rotten shit for selish reasons all the time. I'm a fan of the market, but I hate this "the market made me do it" crap.

And the simplistic versions that so often are out there are really just stains on the whole law & economics type stuff. I mean, really. I took a class on the economics of family, and Becker's book (I think it was Becker) was much more subtle than this assjack's article. Economics does not mean cash. Markets do not mean just money.
