Apparently during filming of the movie, it was not spring, because our poor Maria came back with huge blocks of mud attached to her shoes.

One of my aunts told me about doing something similar, but it was just her and her sister. She said it was great fun, and it's been on my list of things to do before I die since she told me about it.
My parents and my sister stayed at the von Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont when she was in college, and she and my mom spun around on the mountain field for awhile singing while my dad pretended not to know them. Good times.
I really need to look at that list and revise and/or check off where appropriate. It's been probably a decade.
